Keep Your Muscles MovingIf I had to say what has made the biggest difference in long-term relief for the pain in my back, it would be stretching and strengthening the muscles. Your goal is to maintain mobility without pain. So, in other words, you want to keep moving.
I combine nutrition with exercising to make sure muscles have the building blocks to get strong. What works best for me is a protein supplement, and I use the simple Ultimate Whey product from http://bodybuilding.com.
What pulls the back out of alignment is an imbalance in the muscles from each side of the spine. When the muscles are balanced and strong, they can carry your weight and keep the spine in alignment. This is explained in detail in Back Pain Treatment.
Some simple exercises can really help. This video shows a simple stretch that eliminates sciatic pain in seconds.
I also use yoga to keep my spine in alignment. I can stop pain in its tracks. Spinal twists to each side, the triangle, and the cat posture produce the most results for me. You can learn these postures here.
